Since 2008, Pelotonia has been an important part of Columbus. Now, after 10 years of hard work, it’s safe to say the movement has made an impact on the world of cancer research. We've worked with them a bunch over the years, and as they grew so did the content we made for them. This year, their tenth anniversary, was a very special occasion for them and their community, so we worked harder than ever to create content that demonstrated the impact they’ve made since day one.
The bulk of the video content involved a series of vignettes of doctors and the research they do at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. These give viewers insight into what's involved in cancer research, the opportunities for innovation, and how the money earned is being spent. What makes these videos so great is that viewers get to see exactly where their money goes and shows the real impact they're having. The money earned from Pelotonia allows the doctors to pursue avenues of research that would otherwise be unfeasible.
...viewers get to see exactly where their money goes and shows the real impact they're having.
Here's an example of one of those videos from this year:
The backbone of Pelotonia is its participants, whether that be riders, its volunteers, or its virtual riders. Part of how they bring people to this event is through getting their message out there. So we designed a motion graphic explainer video that illustrates exactly what Pelotonia stands for and how the viewer can become "The Ride." This video shows a mix of live footage with wonderfully animated graphics that bring to life the full story of how Pelotonia started, what's involved, and how each person helps contribute toward their one goal: ending cancer.
All the work that Pelotonia does every year is for their big weekend where everyone comes together for "The Ride." Here there are thousands of people that come to celebrate, to cheer, to ride, and to volunteer for this great occasion. Pelotonia has everything from food to booths to live performers and guest speakers. Part of this is a video we shoot specifically to show for the event that delivers a poignant and powerful message to remind everyone what they're there for and to inspire them to work even harder, raise even more, and cheer even louder.
This is the video that was shown at the even this year:
We're really proud of this video for the sheer amount of work that goes into it, the variety of shots, and how we painstakingly refined every frame to make this something that would inspire everyone at the event. And we did this because we believe in what Pelotonia stands for and how what they do can really improve lives; it shows both in this video and how Pelotonia continues to grow every year.
If you've enjoyed what you've seen so far, have a look at the Pelotonia recap video below. Here we show all the energy and positivity from this year's event. Included in the video are riders' personal stories and feelings about Pelotonia having just completed the Ride. You'll see what a year of planning creates and how many people it brings together to work toward their one goal: ending cancer.
